CNA for 10 years in LTC, Memory Care, E.R., Home Care, Pre/Post-Op Orthopaedic & General Surgery, Endoscopy & Genitourinary Hospital Units. *Former Green Cross Certified 1st Responder. *Former Red Cross Certified Life Guard. *1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido. *Bronze Medal winner at the 1988 Junior Olympics in Staten Island, NY. *Grew up in Latham, NY (Upstate), graduated Shaker High School Class of 1991. *Proud to be Generation X! *Originally studied Veterinarian Medicine with a focus on Equine Studies at SUNY Cobleskill. *Proud member of the Native American Community - the Cree (Nehiyawak) Tribe; the Disabled Community, the LGBTQ+ Community & a 4th Generation Great Grandson of Immigrants from Oliveri, Sicily through Ellis Island in 1917. *My family: my beautiful wife of 22 years has a B.F.A. in Theater & Scene Design/Set Building/Lighting/Costume Design/Visual F/X Artist - she is now a Multi-Media Artist, a Breast Cancer Survivor & the Best Mom in the Universe! Our young adolescent teen son is in middle school; a Nationally Ranked 3 Star Master Archer, E-Sports Club, Drama Club, plays acoustic guitar & is consistently on the A-B Honor Roll! Our young adult son (just 21) is studying Computer Science, Multiple Computer Coding Languages, Computer Game Design & Meteorological Computer Model Systems & Innovation, he's also an AVID gamer! *As far as my practice - I work with ANY clientele without bias to race, religion, beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, politics or socioeconomic status; I believe we are all one Human Race with more in common than different. *I accept payment for services on sliding scale fees, income based fees & provide package deals for more than one service (if needed). Unfortunately I cannot accept any Private Medical Insurance, any Medicare or Medicare Supplemental Plans or Medicaid. I accept cash, personal checks, or electronic payments through PayPal or Venmo. If hired - I will provide a Client Bill of Rights, an outline of my services including what I can & cannot do as a Death Doula & a Consent for the Release of Medical Information. A contractual agreement will be signed by me & any potential clientele or family member outlining specific services & duration of services. *I am able to discuss Nursing Diagnoses, clarify Medical Jargon or discuss treatment with a signed consent form, recommend a professional counselor, recommend a medical specialist, help with family dynamics, help plan advance directives for anyone on the health spectrum (from perfectly healthy to actively dying), I can provide basic grief counseling, spiritual counseling (specific to any or no religion) anointing of the body, set up vigils, help plan events around someone's death (not funeral planning), provide Chakra therapy, Energy Support, & Guided Meditations, I can offer resources in the form of literature or recommendations to other practitioners. I am culturally competent, religiously competent & do not include my personal, political, religious or moral/ethical beliefs while offering my services. I am a guide & rely on the client or family specifying what services are needed. *I work with The North Star Guide as a tool to help guide clients & family through the Physical, Emotional, Spiritual & Practical Dimensions surrounding death and dying. *Even though I am a Registered Nurse, I cannot perform the duties of supplemental Hospice Staff Nurses & Aides (cannot give medication, cannot assist with toileting, bathing or peri-care, cannot assist with getting someone out of bed or walking).
